In 2021, 5% of Alberta's workforce was in the manufacturing sector, contributing $23.4B (8%) to the GDP. The sector, comprising subsectors like food and metal manufacturing, machinery, and wood products, is growing due to government investments. However, it faces challenges from supply chain disruptions, pricing fluctuations, and labour shortages due to retirements.
