overview
The Rural Entrepreneur Stream allows Alberta to nominate qualified and capable entrepreneurs who want to start a new or buy an existing business in a rural Alberta community.
Entrepreneurs start businesses to make a profit and bring new ideas, goods, and services to the market. They create jobs and contribute to Alberta's economy. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program considers communities with a population of under 100,000 outside of Calgary and Edmonton as rural areas. The program aims to attract and retain immigrants to these regions.
If you're interested in starting a business in a rural Alberta community, you should reach out to the community contact person. They will help you schedule an exploratory visit and discuss your business proposal. Each community has its own process for scheduling visits. However, keep in mind that communities will only meet with potential entrepreneurs who they believe are a good fit.
